The newly installed paint waste water pre-treatment system went into continuous operation in 2016 following a development and pilot phase. The treatment plant separates the hazardous parts (paint particles and metals) from the wastewater of paint shops by chemical-physical means and, due to the high separation rate, allows the resulting glycol-containing water to be discharged into a sewage treatment plant, while the highly concentrated special waste (approx. 5% of the total amount) is to be fed to the special waste incinerator. With BÜCHL’s special know-how, 3500 t/a of hazardous waste can be processed for recycling. This new and unique facility was recognised by the environmental organisation KÖVET as a model example of innovative and economical environmental protection, and also by AUDI HUNGARY as a customer and supplier of this waste, which was able to significantly improve its recycling rate.
