Sustainable corporate operations
BÜCHL HUNGARIA Ltd. is committed to sustainable corporate operations. Our ESG (Environment, Society, Governance) strategy rests on three main pillars, through which we contribute to building a more sustainable future.
Environmental Initiatives
Solar Panel Systems
We modernized our company's central location's solar power plant in 2025, maximizing the available capacity by utilizing the entire roof surface. New solar panel systems were installed at both our locations, adapting to daytime consumption and the conditions of the sites.
Geothermal and Solar Energy
Since 2015, both our Győr locations have been heated and cooled without fossil fuels. The necessary energy is provided by borehole heat pumps. Hot water supply at both our locations is done with solar collectors.
Electric Vehicles
The number of electric passenger cars in our fleet is growing year by year. In addition, we also converted a former diesel container transport truck to fully electric propulsion.
Bee Families for Sustainability
In 2022, we actively joined the preservation of biodiversity. As part of this, we supported the installation of three bee families in a trained beekeeper's stock. A single bee family consists of approximately 50,000 bees – these tiny pollinators play a key role in maintaining the ecosystem and protecting biodiversity. The honey produced by bees is not only a valuable gift from nature: it also gives us the opportunity to share this sustainability effort in a tangible form with our employees and partners.
Carbon Footprint Analysis
With the professional support of KÖVET Association, BÜCHL Hungaria's three-year (2019-2021) carbon footprint assessment was completed. The study shows how much greenhouse gas (mainly CO₂) we emit during our activities – directly and indirectly. Based on three years of data, the main sources of our emissions are: site energy use, logistics operations, material use. The Bilan Carbone® methodology gave us an accurate picture of which areas have potential for reduction – thus supporting the achievement of our sustainability goals.
Partnership for Sustainability - KÖVET Association
BÜCHL Hungaria Ltd. has been a member of KÖVET Association since 2003, which has been working for the spread of preventive environmental protection and sustainable corporate operation since 1995. The association's goal is to develop and promote methods that serve environmental, social and economic interests simultaneously. As part of our joint work, we regularly participate in the Győr Green Expo, support EMAS roundtable events, and have won awards several times in the 'Money Thrown Out the Window' program.
Electric Work Machines
In 2025, 61% of our material handling and loading machines are already electrically powered. This ratio is constantly increasing within our fleet. With this, we significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Green Energy Purchase
We cover the energy needed for our operations entirely from renewable or high-efficiency combined energy production. In 2025, we purchased 3,500 MWh of green energy.
Social Responsibility
Educational Cooperations
Professional succession and knowledge sharing are important to us. We cooperate with Széchenyi István University in Győr and the MOBILIS Interactive Exhibition Centre, where we support scientific and educational projects and help students with scholarships. We welcome students from the Audi Hungaria School Centre to our company every year as part of a project day. The program aims to give children a first-hand introduction to modern waste management processes and an insight into the daily operations of a sustainably operating industrial company.
Sports Sponsorship
At BÜCHL, we believe that supporting sports is not just sponsorship – but an investment in the future, the community and value creation. The dynamism and team spirit of handball, ice hockey and basketball perfectly reflect our company's values. We are proud to be supporters of Győri ETO HC, Győri ETO UNI FKC and Győr Basketball Club. We have been behind young racing driver Patrik Lipovics' successes from the beginning, because we believe that commitment and continuous development are equally crucial in motorsport and business.
Mass Sports Support
Since 2000, hundreds of people start every year in the BÜCHL Night Running Race, which is realized with the main support of BÜCHL Hungaria Ltd., including our employees, who compete individually and in relay races. Those who don't put on running shoes help the organizers' work as volunteers.
Community Building with Experiences
The basis of a strong team is shared experience. We regularly organize employee programs during the year – including fishing competitions, children's day, joint excursions, retro sandwich day and Christmas baking – which provide not only relaxation but also real community experience.
Corporate Governance
DUIHK Membership – Active Connection with German Economy
BÜCHL Hungaria Ltd. is committed to international professional cooperation and responsible corporate operation. As part of this, we have been members of the German-Hungarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DUIHK) for many years. DUIHK membership means active connection with German economic players, offers opportunities for professional development, exchange of experience, and supports our company's goal of representing high German standards in the field of environmental services in Hungary.
Integrated Enterprise Management System
We installed the Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2018 integrated enterprise management system in 2008 and have been continuously developing and expanding it since then, which also forms the basis of waste record keeping.
Committed to Quality
Proving our commitment and supporting our work, we have introduced and maintain the MSZ EN ISO 14001:2015 and the European Union's EMAS III. certification, Regulation 1221/2009/EC, Regulation 2017/1505, and the amendment to EU Regulation 2018/2026. In addition, the Environment-Focused, Quality and Workplace Health Protection and Safety Integrated Management System according to MSZ EN ISO 9001:2015 and MSZ ISO 45001:2018.
